Pompano Beach is named after the Florida pompano, a popular game fish found off the City’s coast. The pompano is known for its delicious taste and is prized by fishermen and seafood lovers alike. The end of the Fisher Family Pier was designed to resemble the head of a pompano. Throughout Pompano Beach you’ll also notice 5’ tall painted pompano statues from the City’s first large public art installation.
